As we’re getting settled in our new house, we still have a lot to do.    Persistent negotiator – someone who doesn’t let go of a deal as the negotiation gets harder

I first talked to Gaurav Sood in early 2011. My wife and I were interested in a short-sale and I called up Gaurav Sood (he was the listing agent) and asked him a bunch of questions. I tried to assess whether he would jeopardize the deal if I came in at a higher offer. While most of the real estate agents would have jumped at that, he refused to do it since they had already made a verbal promise to another party. I liked his value system and business ethics. This set the stage for a strong relationship that spanned into multiple transactions since 2011. 

As we progressed in our search for our new house, we decided to try him out and over a period of few months, he worked diligently with us, to understand our needs and short-list the right property. There were a couple of characteristics that I was looking for and he met all of them:

1.       Keep my interest first and foremost (as his client)

2.       Ethics – Gaurav does not bend the rules. There were situations where other referrals of mine wanted him to get into grey areas ….Gaurav doesn’t do that.

So in a short span of 1 ½ year, Gaurav helped us: 

a)      Sell our existing house – quickly. Offers started coming in on the first day the listing went live 

b)      Buy our new house – was able to negotiate hard and finally got us the house in a new community that we were after…. at a discount + a big upgrade thrown in. All this from a well-known developer who is known for “no-negotiations”

c)       Get a new  property for my office in Bellevue downtown
