– Hey guys, you don’t have to go too far to find good people. We are in Kent, Washington with a population of around 130,000 mortals, and want to introduce you to superstar in the community with a huge heart for helping others. Our dear friend, Leelee. Let’s go see her. – [Lennaea] Washington state is full of beauty and fantastic people. This is all about our community. We are Gaurav and Lennaea with GetSood, and this is “Everything 253.” – Hello. – Hello. – Hi, thank you. – Spaghetti. – Yeah, you gotta have spaghetti. – Hi, Leelee, introduce yourself to our peeps, so that they can come and support you. Tell them why you started this, and how they can help, and how you’re helping other people who need help. – Okay. Hi, my name’s Leelee, and this is my sharing pantry on Kent East Hill. How we started this was in March, during COVID, my husband and I became somewhat panicked about COVID, and thinking, boy, how are we gonna survive? And my husband said, because we’re very faithful people, he said, “We’re gonna be just fine.” Like, we’ll be okay. And then he also suggested, ask people if they need our help. Tell everyone you know, do you need help? So that kind of happened on Facebook. And people started coming out of the woodwork, that they were worried too about food, and how they’re gonna pay their bills. So we offered to help a couple people, with our own money and own food. And then somehow, it manifested into the little pantry shelf over there, and I was on By Nothing. So I was driving around, picking up free food anywhere I could, and bringing it back to my house, and then I would contact those people and take it to them, and then I started getting monetary donations, and then more people, and more family, and more friends. So I went from feeding about 10 people a week, to yesterday, I hit over 300. – Whoa, that’s just awesome. – 300 families. – Oh my God. – Not people, yeah. When this came on Saturday, and he put it, I didn’t know my friend was building this. He did it as a surprise. – Oh, wow. – Yeah. So we were just completely speechless. – [Gaurav] Do you have any message for people, how they can help you more? So you can keep helping other people? – Yeah, so my biggest donator is someone that found me and started following me, and he brought me a fridge, and tables, and his name is Matt Roark. And he works with a nonprofit called We Love Kent. And so donations can be made through We Love Kent. He’s my biggest supporter, and he’s really gonna help me get this going more, so maybe next week, it’s gonna be 400 families, and it’s a huge deal, but I’m just a little person, but now they’re making me so big. So you can make donations through We Love Kent, or you can drive right here, to the sharing pantry, and drop food. Perishable food, I need to be contacted, so I can put it in my storage. And that’s it. – [Lennaea] If you or someone you know would like to support this amazing cause, you can do so through Facebook, on the We Love Kent Page, or on The sharing pantry- Kent East Hill Run by Leelee Page. She is always looking for volunteers to help, as well. Let’s keep this amazing act of kindness going.
