It can be stressful selling a house. That stress is compounded when you are selling a house on behalf of someone you lost too soon. My dad was sick for a year while my sister Shannon and I scrambled to manage his medical care, and attend to our mom who was disabled and living in a care facility near our childhood home in Auburn. With Shannon in Los Angeles and myself living 2.5 hours away this was no easy task and we relied on having family. friends, and caregivers in Auburn to get us through the year. When my dad passed away in September 2014, our tasks shifted from managing medical decisions to handling the business of his estate. What didn’t change was our need to have reliable and caring support with the multitude of tasks involved. Living out of the area, I was unsure who I should call. I reached out to Lennea, who was a high school friend, and she introduced me to her husband Guarav. If you know them, perhaps you are not surprised to hear how much they went above and beyond to help me with the process of selling the home I grew up in. They really work as a team, with Guarav giving his advice, answering all my questions- and deferring to Lennea when he thought her design ideas would help me make the best decision. I never felt pressured to do things their way as I emptied the house and decided which updates to make before listing. Instead, I felt like they gave me options and input, talking with me as they would with a family member. Guarav helped arrange and manage some of the details, such as yard maintenance, that were difficult because I was living out of town. He gave me great suggestions (e.g. find a neighbor that is willing to turn lights on and open the curtains each day) that helped me feel reassured, even without being there everyday. Guarav drove by himself to check on the house during the months that I had contractors coming and going. He called me to share any concerns, but most often he just called to let me know everything looked okay. When we finally listed, the sale was almost immediate. I felt all along that Guarav was giving me his best advice based on his experience and the quick sale confirmed this. I am so grateful for the attention and care Guarav Sood and Lennea Sood provided to me as I navigated through this challenging situation. I simply could not have done this without them
